VaderPainter featured in new art

Though I was going for a character that was a Batman/Vader combination, I still needed a good Vader image to start with. The incredible attention to detail used on VaderPainter's Darth Vader costume made the realistic quality of this drawing possible.
I've been asked repeatedly as to which Lucasfilm publicity shot was used for reference or which scene from which film this was lifted. I haven't had the heart to tell any one that it really isn't David Prowse in the costume.

Hey Robert!
Hope all is well and you had a great holiday. I'm dropping you a line to let you know I utilized the photo reference you shot for me for the Vader SW Insider project (was temporarily postponed but still on schedule for an upcoming issue) for my new Celebration IV limited edtion print artwork. I'm working on the full color version right now and can drop you another email later on when it's complete.

Hey Robert-not sure if you saw the cover to YOU CAN DRAW STAR
WARS, but this Vader on here is you! :)

I mention you- show your Vader reference, and draw you in the 1st episode of HOW TO DRAW STAR WARS.

By the way- the new STAR WARS 30th poster is looking great! Thanks for your help with Vader!:)

ARTWORK
OF JOE CORRONEY

VaderPainter
was asked by Joe Corroney to model for his submission to the guide
after meeting him in the artist room at CIII. Joe contacted VaderPainter
after the convention via e-mail and asked for some very specific
poses. VaderPainter spent several hours modeling his suit for Joe
and had his wife take pictures with their digital camera. Joe then
studied the poses and asked for more detailed versions of a couple
of the 60 pictures that were sent. The incredible art below is the
result of the images sent to Joe Corroney and his wonderful talent...

Hi
Robert, Glad you enjoy the artwork!! This is one of the most emotional
pieces I've ever done, it was a hard piece to complete and if it
wasn't for your excellent costume reference my idea for the composition
wouldn't have turned out so successfully.
Thanks
so much again for helping me out on that project. I'll definitely
drop you a line for the next Vader project that comes around since
you were so great to work with.
Thanks again!

ARTWORK
OF MATT BUSCH
www.mattbusch.com
VaderPainter
was asked by Matt Busch to model for his submission to the guide
at CIII. Matt arranged to have a professional photographer present
on Sunday of the convention to photograph VaderPainter as Darth
Vader. VaderPainter spent several hours modeling his suit for both
Matt and Sarah Wilkinson. They wanted to do art that had never been
seen before. As you can see from the images below Matt Busch is
an incredible artist...

25
years ago, fans eagerly awaited the release of the first Star
Wars sequel, The Empire Strikes Back. hoping it would live
up to its predecessor in terms of imagination and scope. To
the delight of fans and critics alike, Empire not only served
up the Star Wars universe in richer, deeper tones, but introduced
audiences to some of the saga's most memorable attributes.
To
commerate Empire's silver anniversary, prolific Star Wars artist Matt
Busch has composed a striking lithograph showcasing the
sinister agents of the sequel trilogy's darkest chapter, paired
with the original period Empire logo. Vader and Palpatine dominate
a rogue's gallery of Imperial officers, bounty hunters, stormtroopers
and snowtroopers, all set against the cool blue tones of Cloud
City and Hoth.
Available
exclusively at StarWarsShop,
each Empire anniversary lithograph will be signed by the artist
and numbered from an edition size of just 750.
Celebrate
one of the saga's most beloved chapters with this striking
limited edition print by one of Star War's most gifted illustrators.

Hope
all is well with you!
I wanted to give you the heads up that I used you as reference for the new EMPIRE
STRIKES BACK poster I did!!! -Matt

And
here is a look at the original, unaltered art. You may be able
to tell what picture I used this from! Note the brick wall reflecting
in your helmet! Strangely, the only changes Lucasfilm wanted was
to get rid of all the colors in Vader's helmet. I thought the orange/yellow
light coming from below was beautiful, and made it look like the
lighting from the carbon freezing chamber on Cloud City. However,
I think the change to a darker, less colorful Vader is also very
bold, and I'm very happy with it.

This

This
one is you fighting ME! Haha! -Matt Busch

Used the body of this one... -Matt Busch

This
pose was used for both of the other fighting illustrations...
One of which was not used for the book...-Matt Busch

Then,
I did this for the Snappy popcorn folks... The original also had
the president in the painting next to you, but it was too big for
my
scanner, so this is the only area I could squeeze in...
Feel
free to post any of these... -Matt
